Leadership Styles And Leadership Qualities - 1662 Words
The manager role can be challenging, and at times, they need to use ethical reasoning and decide which outcome is for the great good or causes the least amount of harm. There can be some shared traits between management and leadership, they both provide direction and the ability to influence the people around them. They need to create an atmosphere where people are motivated to meet the goal, no matter if it is planned or unplanned. With that being said, Yoder-wise differentiated leaders and managers when she stated, ââ¬Å"Managers address complexity and change, whereas leaders primarily address changeâ⬠(2014). In addition to being quick to adapt and change to a situation as needed, I listen to the people around me. I imagine others would say that a strength of mine is to recognize the emotions of others and, that I try to proceed in a manner that is appropriate for both the person and the situation. On my home care visit with a nurse, the patient asked if I could explain the information because he found it easier to follow, and the nurse was unaware of when he was not comprehending what she was saying. On this day, I saw the moment he was confused and took the opportunity to communicate with him in a way he was able to receive. Both the nurse and the patient were grateful. My personal example of using transformational style to accomplish a goal was through the Student Nursing Association (SNA). The SNA was trying to raise money through a bake sale. Profits were slow and steady throughout the day. Close to the end of the bake sale, there was a significant portion of the inventory left over. I suggested the idea that we should go around to the students rather than stay in one place. The students liked the idea but were unsure of how to approach this situation.
